Surrey students emerge the winners in Surrey Business School Activities Week
Two first year Surrey Undergraduates emerged victorious in an inter-university challenge that kick-started Surrey Business School’s highly successful Activities Week programme.
The Activities Week programme is unique, designed to help first year Undergraduates develop their employability and transferable skills, and the Capgemini Super Techies Competition kicked off a series of events that provided the students with an opportunity to interact with businesses in week eight of their degree.
The Super Techies Competition ran throughout the Activities Week, and began on the Monday with 60 Surrey teams taking part. Successive rounds saw these whittled down to a select ten, who then went through to the inter-university final at sponsor Capgemini’s offices in Woking.
First year Surrey Undergraduates, Nikita Agarwal and Katya Sephton beat off stiff competition from Undergraduate and Postgraduate teams from other universities to win the challenge.
On the Wednesday, there was a team-building and creative day based around students forming a choir.
On Thursday, working in teams, students participated in a day-long business simulation run by StatX Simulations, which integrated marketing, operations and finance. 65 teams entered (representing 95 per cent of first year students) and the winners received a year’s student membership of the Institute of Directors.
