‘Women in Business’ workshop shares key skills

Interactive workshop helps develop face-to-face speaking skills and improve confidence.

Surrey Business School (SBS) recently hosted the latest event in its Women in Business series, with a workshop designed to improve the way attendees promote themselves vocally in a variety of situations.

Designed for businesswomen who are required to speak publicly, lack the confidence to speak up, or who simply want to improve their overall vocal performance, the workshop covered a variety of situations, from small intimate meetings to large corporate events.

Speaking at the event were Chris Palmer, Head of Voice from the University of Surrey’s renowned Guildford School of Acting, and Heidi Hazeu, a specialist in business communications from SBS.

The workshop, which was held at the Rik Medlik Building on 30 October, was attended by around 45 alumni and local businesswomen and included practical elements alongside a theoretical grounding.

The next event in the University of Surrey’s Women in Business series will take place on Wednesday 12 March 2014. More details will be available on the Surrey Business School website soon.
