New addition to MBA team

Welcome to Dr Chris Mahon, our new Director of MBA programmes.

Chris is an experienced business school academic, entrepreneur and leader, specialising in developing and delivering programmes designed to help individuals and organisations reach their potential through active engagement with the following core principles:

  • Integrative learning and reflection

  • Immersion in a hands-on, team-based activity

  • Meaningful engagement with successful practitioners

  • The purposeful development of key transferable entrepreneurial skills

Chris comes to Surrey Business School after 11 years at the University of Nottingham Business School, where he developed a strong reputation for MBA and MSc programme design and leadership, as well as a proven track record of innovative teaching.

He created and delivered one of the UK’s first PG modules in social entrepreneurship, and has excelled as an MBA educator since 2006. Chris was awarded the University of Nottingham’s prestigious Lord Dearing Award in 2012 in recognition of excellence and innovation in teaching.

Chris is also a well-connected practitioner with over two decades of experience in the creation and management of organisations across multiple sectors. He has founded successful businesses in both the US and the UK, the most recent being a social enterprise dedicated to supporting the development and growth of public sector spin-outs.

He is currently Chairman of Nottingham CityCare Partnership, CIC, an award-winning and innovative healthcare social enterprise. CityCare works in partnership with Clinical Commissioning Groups, Nottingham City Council, and other stakeholders to deliver over 60 community-based health and well-being services in the city and the county.

Chris is excited about the opportunity to join the outstanding team at Surrey Business School, and to continue the growth and development of the Surrey MBA.
