Course
International Hospitality Management

"I chose Surrey because of its number one ranking in the UK for hospitality programmes. I knew I would be in good hands, working with expert academics and outstanding classmates from all over the world.

The most satisfying achievement of my second year was when my team and I won the Ian Eldridge Prize for organising our own local food market, as part of our Hospitality Event Management module.

Wearing many hats during the event made me realise I’m more capable than I thought and increased my confidence; I couldn’t believe what we achieved in the end.

My programme has a good combination of practical and analytical modules, as well as a range of guest lectures and networking events. As a result of this, I’ve improved my industry know-how, gaining specialist knowledge of hotels, restaurants and airlines – which has made me more job-ready when I graduate.

All the academics are very approachable and helpful, and I really appreciate what they’ve done for me. Without their help and support, I wouldn’t be who I am now.

My time at Surrey has transformed me – I’ve become more confident and have developed my skills in leadership, communication, time management and presenting. I attend as many external industry-related events as possible, and I’m an active member of a range of clubs and societies. I have also set up the Hospitality Consulting Society (HOSCON), of which I am now President and which has over 100 members.

Being at Surrey has exposed me to so many valuable and unexpected opportunities that have shaped my life – and all in a beautiful and tranquil natural environment with easy access to London."
