Other ways to give
Thank you for choosing to make a gift to the University of Surrey.
There are several ways you can choose to support the University in addition to donating online. We currently accept gifts in the following ways.
Donate Online
Gift Aid
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows the University of Surrey to be tax-effective, increasing the value of your donation at no extra cost to you. In 2025, our supporters helped raise over £71,000 through Gift Aid alone.
By completing a Gift Aid declaration form, we can claim the tax back on your donation. This means that a £10 donation will be worth £12.50 and for every £50 gift, we will actually receive £62.50.
To qualify, you must be a UK taxpayer and have paid UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the amount of Gift Aid that all charities and community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) will claim on your gifts in that tax year (6 April to 5 April).
If you pay tax at a rate of 40% or above, you can claim the difference between the higher and basic rate on your donation.
To claim the difference, you need to:
- Include all your Gift Aid eligible donations on your Self Assessment tax return
- Ask HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to amend your tax code.
If you are a UK taxpayer and have paid sufficient tax, please tick the Gift Aid box when making your donation to enable us to claim Gift Aid. Alternatively, you can download a Gift Aid declaration form here and email the completed form to alumni@surrey.ac.uk. Please note that you, the donor, will be responsible if there is any tax shortfall.
Please email us at alumni@surrey.ac.uk to let us know you are no longer a UK taxpayer so we can stop reclaiming tax on your donations immediately.
