Annual Fund grants support sport at Surrey

Funded by alumni donations, the Annual Fund is committed to looking after the health, fitness and wellbeing of Surrey's student community. This year a range of sports clubs from Rowing to American Football and Taekwondo were supported with a grant.

A number of Boat Club boats are reaching the end of their racing life, hampering our rowers whose success means they face increasingly tough competition.

The club has been awarded £10,000 by the Annual Fund to buy two second-hand boats (an eight and a four). The eight will boost the women’s squad in particular, which achieved its highest ever placing at the Women’s Eights Head of the River.

The University’s Snowsports Club had its most successful season in 2014-15; however, dated skis and snowboards meant the club was unable to enter some BUCS (British Universities and College Sports) events as it did not meet minimum safety requirements.

An Annual Fund grant of £3,171 has enabled the club to invest in new equipment, allowing members to achieve their full sporting potential.
