The Art of Winnie-the-Pooh
If you love Winnie-the-Pooh, don’t miss the opportunity to hear more about the artist behind the wonderful illustrations – E H Shepard.
The University’s Archives & Special Collections is hosting a talk by James Campbell, Chair of The Shepard Trust, based on his newly published book The Art of Winnie-the-Pooh on Thursday 19 October between 6.30 and 7.30pm. It will be an opportunity to hear about the unique collaboration between E.H. Shepard and A.A. Milne and to see previously unpublished artwork, including very early sketches of Pooh bear.
Archives & Special Collections house much of E. H. Shepard’s personal archive and have on loan from The Shepard Trust its collection linked to World War One. In addition, publishers Egmont UK have deposited on loan artwork for coloured editions of Winnie-the-Pooh and The Wind in the Willows which the department hops to make accessible soon.
The event costs just £5.00 and kicks off at 6.00 pm with wine and nibbles. It will be held in Lecture Theatre M. After the talk there will be an opportunity to purchase signed copies of the book at a special on-the-day price from the Appleseed pop-up bookshop – a brilliant opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts or indulge yourself and relive your childhood!
