Surrey ranked 13th for Biological Sciences in The Times/The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014.
High student satisfaction and quality research helped Surrey climb the newspaper league table, which rated 90 universities for the quality of their Biological Sciences programmes.
Last year, Surrey, which offers undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Food Science and Microbiology, Microbiology and Microbiology (Medical), was rated 17th in the Guide.
The good news follows an excellent score of 96% for Surrey’s biosciences programmes in the National Student Survey.
Overall, the University of Surrey came 12th in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014, second only to Oxford in the South East.
