Could you be a Students’ Union trustee?

You may have left the University but you could still play a part in improving the student experience by acting as a trustee for the Students’ Union.

This is an exciting time in the Union’s development as it maps out its five-year strategy and starts the refurbishment of the Stag Hill campus building.

It is looking to appoint two new external trustees who can demonstrate a real passion for supporting students. It would particularly like candidates who have experience of a senior management position with working knowledge of health and safety, disability access needs, media/PR, campaigning or fundraising to join the well-established Board.

This is a voluntary position, with reasonable travelling expenses reimbursed. As a minimum, the Board meets four times a year and in addition trustees are invited to attend a number of events held throughout the year and are expected to be available to be contacted for advice and guidance.

This is a great opportunity for someone willing to volunteer their time with a dedicated team of elected officers and staff, which has responsibility for the governance, finances, legal aspects and strategy of the charity.

For more details, please read the information pack and for an informal conversation about the position, contact Mustie Smith, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Union President, on 01483 689227 (ussu.president@surrey.ac.uk) or Caroline Royle, Human Resources and Staff Development Manager, on 01483 689980 (c.royle@surrey.ac.uk).

To apply, please send a CV and covering letter to Caroline as above. The closing date for applications is Monday, 7 March.
