Exceptional academics joining Surrey Business School in 2014

Surrey Business School is delighted to announce a number of new additions to our academic staff, demonstrating our continued commitment to providing world-leading teaching and research.

Professor Stephen Woods

Joining Surrey Business School from Aston University, Professor Stephen Woods will be the Subject Group Leader for the School’s People and Organisations group. Professor Woods is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist, well known for his research on psychometric and personality trait assessment, and recruitment and selection.

A former PhD student at the University of Surrey, Professor Woods’ work has been published in scientific and professional journals, scholarly books, and at national and international conferences. He also sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology and the Work and Stress journal.

Dr Nikolaos Karampatsas

Dr Nikolaos Karampatsas joins Surrey Business School having completed his PhD at Surrey. Taking up the role of Lecturer in Accounting and Finance, Dr Karampatsas has research interests in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital structure, debt capacity, credit ratings, financial constraints and credit supply frictions.

Dr Yi-Chun Ou

Joining Surrey from the University of Groningen, Dr Yi-Chun Ou takes up the role of Lecturer in Retail Marketing at Surrey Business School. Dr Ou has research interests in the effects of marketing strategies in services industries, how firms can systematically evoke emotions to improve performance and combining theories of sociology and marketing to examine consumption by the aging generation.

Dr Tiago da Silva Pinheiro

With research interests in information economics and financial economics, Dr Tiago da Silva Pinheiro joins Surrey from the Norwegian School of Economics. Dr Pinheiro will take up the role of Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Surrey Business School.

Dr Veronica Veleanu-Khosla

With research interests in asset prices, credit markets, financial crises, monetary policy transmission and international economics, Dr Veronica Veleanu-Khosla joins Surrey from the University of Nottingham. Dr Veleanu-Khosla will take up the role of Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Surrey Business School.
