QS World University Rankings place Surrey in world's top 40 institutions for sociology.
The Department of Sociology has entered the top 40 in the 2014 QS World University Rankings, confirming Surrey's place among the world's best universities for teaching and research in the social sciences.
"We are delighted with our place in the 2014 World Rankings," commented Professor Rachel Brooks, Head of Department. "It is testament to the ground-breaking research that has been conducted by Sociology staff over recent years – in areas as diverse as the sociology of sleep, social simulation and criminology – and the high quality of our teaching programmes."
This high ranking on the worldwide stage follows top-10 UK ratings in league tables compiled by The Guardian University Guide and The Complete University Guide.
