Surrey alumnus addresses Malaysian chemical engineers as IChemE President

Surrey professor and graduate Jonathan Seville gave the opening address as President of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) at the annual awards dinner in Malaysia, and welcomed guest of honour HRH Tuanku Zara Salim, a chemical engineer and wife of Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

The event recognising celebrated outstanding achievements in the Malaysian chemical engineering community.

Jonathan said: “IChemE’s purpose is to advance chemical engineering worldwide for the benefit of society and Malaysia is no exception. Chemical engineering makes a huge contribution to the economy of this nation, and we are delighted to work with a plethora of companies to secure a pipeline of committed, competent and trusted professionals who will make the world a better place.”

Jonathan is Professor of Chemical Engineering at Surrey, having previously been Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University from 2011 until the end of August 2016. He graduated with PhD in Chemical and Process Engineering in 1987.
