If you are eligible to graduate, you will receive an invitation sent to your Surrey email address and personal email address if provided.
Invitations to attend the postgraduate ceremonies will be e-mailed out in December 2017 (online bookings open in January) and invitations to attend the undergraduate ceremonies will be e-mailed out in March 2018 (online bookings open in late April).
You are eligible to graduate if you have been awarded a postgraduate certificate, diploma or higher degree of the University or where the recommendation for the award of a degree is expected to be considered on, or before 28 February 2018.
For those being awarded a research degree, the final deadline for submission to the Research Degree Committee is 15 February 2018. If you do not expect to be awarded a higher degree until after this date, you are not eligible to graduate in April 2018. You will receive similar information when your programme of study has been completed.
If you are expecting to graduate in academic year 2017/18 then please ensure that you upload the final version of your thesis, approved by your examiners, to the library’s on-line repository at least 3 days prior to the February award submission deadline (15 February 2018).
You are eligible to graduate if you have been awarded a first degree of the University or where the recommendation for the award of a degree is expected to be considered on, or before 6 July 2018.
Provisional examination results are published by most Boards of Examiners as soon as they are available and are subject to approval by the Student Progression and Award Board on Friday 6 July 2018. The University will inform any candidate whose result is changed.
We always advise you book your graduation tickets before you know whether you have passed, even if you think you may need to retake the year. If you wait to book your tickets you may face disappointment if there are no guest tickets remaining.
If you are not eligible
If you have purchased your tickets but you are unable to graduate, then we can offer you a refund.
Debts to the University
Please note that degrees will not be conferred if tuition debts to the University are outstanding by the deadline of Friday 19 January for Postgraduate students and Friday 15 June for Undergraduate students.
The name of any student owing tuition fees to the University will not be considered for the award of a degree or diploma, and therefore will not be included in the list of graduands for presentation or officially published in the Gazette of Degree Awards, until those fees are paid. In order to avoid delays in the banking system, payment by cash or credit card is strongly recommended. For more information on your payment options please visit our Fees web page.
Once you have paid your debt, the system should take approximately 24 hours to update. Only once the system has processed your payments may you proceed to booking your tickets. Please note: If you attempt to do this too quickly after clearing your debt, you may fail to log into the site.
