Convenience Leadership Programme kicks off at Surrey

In January Surrey Business School in collaboration with the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) launched the first 2 days of an executive education course called the Convenience Leadership Programme.

We welcomed delegates from across the retail and manufacturing industry including Co-Op, Applegreen and Mars. For Professor Sabine Benoit, Director of the programme, this course is linked to one of her main research areas and part of her various activities within the convenience sector that evolved into an impact case study.

The 9 day programme which will span over the next 6 months both here on campus at Surrey and at sites across the Midlands aims to equip area managers, sales specialists and buyers with solid strategic and practical knowledge of convenience retailing as well as knowledge of the portfolio and activities from the ACS. We hope that on completion of this course delegates will be in a stronger position to further enhance their business and career.

Delegate feedback: “[It was a] shift of thinking, actively put myself within a different perspective…”.

To develop the programme, Sabine has worked closely with SBS Executive Education and said: “Mark Simmons (Executive Education Coordinator) was incredibly valuable and supportive in making this idea of running a programme on my research area come true. I could not have done it without him and I’m very grateful for his support.”
