Dr Sarvarian spoke at a side event of the United Nations General Assembly

Together with colleagues, Dr Arman Sarvarian spoke at a virtual side event of the UN General Assembly on the subject of ‘Reforming the Rules of Procedure and Working Practices of Inter-State Courts’. The presentation was based on the project of the International Law Association Committee on the Procedure of International Courts and Tribunals that the authors completed in May 2020, the final report and resolution having been adopted in December.

Dr Sarvarian discussed recent procedural developments in the past two years at the International Court of Justice, International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, inter-State arbitration and WTO Dispute Settlement System in light of the proposals made in the Report. Focusing on three themes of procedural efficiency, cost-effectiveness and the sound administration of justice.
