Generous alumni support Surrey’s future

We’d like to say a big thank you to our amazing supporters who donated an incredible £102,000 during our recent telephone campaign to support the University.

Your gifts will have a transformative effect, from supporting ground-breaking research designed to tackle some of the biggest problems facing the world today, to providing a lifeline to students who would otherwise have to drop out of university due to severe financial hardship

Our enthusiastic team of student callers rang alumni to find out about their memories from Surrey and receive careers advice, as well as asking them to support the University philanthropically.

Two of our team shared why being a student caller was important to them.

John Alao, a first-year Economics student, said: “Surrey is at the forefront of many important research projects such as 5G and various health-related issues. To support these projects means to be a part of a more connected and healthier future for all of us.”

Shanna Deeben, who is studying German with Psychology, said: “Supporting Surrey is important in order to continue the work it does to ensure all students have the best university experience possible. There are a variety of causes to support, from cancer research in animals to student hardship funds, which will benefit everyone in the long run.

“It was great getting to know previous students and hear all about their experiences at Surrey. It’s important to support the causes Surrey represents and I wanted to partake in what we are trying to achieve!”
