Surrey Business School Researcher of the Year Awards

The Surrey Business School Away Day was held on Monday 18 September – an occasion that also offered an excellent opportunity to recognise the first class research that is being pursued across the Business School.

The inaugural Surrey Business School Researcher of the Year Awards covered four categories to reflect the differing levels of experience of our staff. The award winners were as follows:

  • Surrey Business School Early Career Researcher of the Year 2016/17 - Dr Zicheng Lei

  • Surrey Business School Mid-Career Researcher of the Year 2016/17  – Dr Stephan Ludwig

  • Surrey Business School Postgraduate Researcher of the Year 2016/17  – Heather Cairns-Lee

Commenting on the awards, Surrey Business School Director of Research, Professor Steve Wood reflected, “Our awards allow us to recognise the excellent work occurring across the Business School that regularly appears in the pages of top tier academic journals but also serve to influence industry and policy.  I am especially pleased that we are celebrating high quality research produced by staff who have different levels of experience within the school.

We are working hard an cementing a supportive research culture across SBS whether that is located at departmental, centre or the wider school level.  The research awards concluded an invigorating Away Day where colleagues enthusiastically participated in workshops focused on research & impact, teaching & learning, business engagement and internationalisation.”
