US Befrienders Scheme

Going abroad is a fantastic life experience and in the coming year over 50 Surrey students will be travelling to the United States for work placements or to study at partner universities. But living a long way from home can have its challenges.

That is why this year we are pleased to be launching a US Befrienders Scheme. Befriending is a very simple way to make a difference to a student and support your University.  We are seeking alumni volunteers in the US who would be happy to contribute a little time to be contacted by a student, whether for informal advice, recommendations of places to go, a day’s work experience, a family meal or a friendly ear at the end of the phone.

If you would be interested in joining our list of volunteer befrienders, and especially if you live in one of the destination states (Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington) please get in touch to receive further information about how to get involved.
