Bob is the chair of our Executive Sustainability Steering Group and the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. As a member of the Executive Board of the University, he has formal responsibility for sustainability at Surrey.

Tom leads the development and delivery of the University’s energy and sustainability strategy. He manages projects, activities and events to improve the University’s environmental sustainability and works with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of the broad sustainability strategic objectives, delivering cultural change across the University.

Angela is the Director of the Centre for Environment and Sustainability. She oversees the implementation and delivery of our Sustainability in Curriculum strategy and collaborates with relevant departments to ensure sustainability is included in the education of all students.

Richard is a champion for our Sustainability Strategic Research Theme. As the chair of our Sustainability Research Enhancement Working Group, he collaborates with academic and professional departments to ensure that opportunities are available for students to conduct sustainability research and apply it within the University.

Peter’s role involves oversight of the Sustainable Procurement Strategy and responsibility for embedding sustainable best practice into procurement across the University. As our Sustainable Procurement Champion, he is in close contact with higher education sustainable procurement groups, researching and implementing best practice responsible procurement across the University.

Nicola is a doctoral practitioner working in partnership with the Centre of Environment and Sustainability (CES). He works with the Sustainability team on the staff and student engagement side, researching climate communication and effective approaches to promote rapid, collective change in multi-stakeholder environments.

Mark is a doctoral practitioner working in partnership with the Centre of Environment and Sustainability (CES).

James is a doctoral practitioner working in partnership with the Centre of Environment and Sustainability (CES). His work focuses around researching and implementing effective water management methods, supported by analysis of patterns of use. He identifies solutions to reduce the University’s water use.

Andy oversees energy management at the University, delivering the objectives of the Energy Policy. He identifies and prioritises areas for energy efficiency work and works closely with the Building Management Systems. Andy works with the Head of Energy and Sustainability on the University’s energy procurement strategy. He creates performance reports and works with building stakeholders around the University.

David is responsible for the management of the University’s vehicle fleet, insurances and co-ordination of repairs and servicing. David works across the University to consolidate vehicles under one contract to increase efficiency. This role is critical to the day to day operation of the University. Dave was responsible for introducing the first electric vehicles into the University’s fleet.

Emese provides administration, financial and project support to the members of the Sustainability Team meet its objectives. Particularly, she is responsible for supporting the team on all financial matters, and plays an important role in ensuring that energy & utilities at the University are well managed, controlled, budgeted, monitored and reported.

Ed is the chair of our Travel & Transport Working Group and oversees the development, lead and delivery of the University’s Travel Plan, encouraging active travel, public transport and, where necessary, sustainable car use. He also manages any facilities related to transport, ensuring their smooth operation.

VP Community has formal responsibility for sustainability at a student level across the University, consulting on policies and providing representation from the USSU and student societies. The VP’s role also includes communication and engagement in sustainability at a student level.
