Population systems and public health
Integrating One Health with population systems and public health: the role of veterinary medicine
About our research
The One Health approach recognizes the intricate connections between human, animal, and environmental health within population systems and public health frameworks. Veterinary medicine plays a pivotal role in this nexus, addressing zoonotic diseases, food security, and antimicrobial stewardship and the study of microbial communities while promoting animal welfare and ecosystem balance.
By integrating epidemiology, disease surveillance, mathematical modelling, microbial ecology, and preventive medicine, veterinary professionals contribute to a broader understanding of health dynamics within populations. This collaborative approach fosters resilient public health systems, enabling innovative solutions to global challenges and driving sustainable progress at the interface of human and animal health.
