Nursing Studies (Registered Nurse Adult Nursing) BSc (Hons)Why I chose Surrey
I was working in a hardware store when I decided to change my career plan. Nursing had always appealed to me, and people told me it was something I would be good at, so I applied for several courses.
I was offered a place to study adult nursing at a few top universities, but I knew Surrey had an excellent reputation for nursing, and the amazing Sports Park swayed it for me in the end.
My course
The Clinical Simulation Centre is modern, and I like how the tutors arrange for actors to come in and take on the role of patients – it makes it feel so real. The Library and online facilities are brilliant and I never struggle for resources when doing assignments.
My clinical placements
I’ve enjoyed my clinical placements the most so far. The colleagues and mentors I’ve worked with have all been brilliant.
Later this year, I’m going to Tanzania for four weeks for an elective placement – I think this will be a real highlight of the course.
My career and development
The University is a very friendly place and I have met some amazing friends. When I graduate, I intend to apply to the Army after two years’ NHS experience. I feel a lot more content since starting the course because I know I’m on a pathway to a career I’m going to love."
