Psychology is such a large community and it has been so great to find and bond with so many like-minded people.

I chose Surrey because of its beautiful, friendly campus and its high quality of teaching - especially in psychology.

Since starting at Surrey, I have become a hugely more confident and independent person, ready for all the challenges and opportunities that life throws at me.

Going on placement is a fantastic way to decide whether the industry you want to go into is right for you, and it can even lead to being offered a job with your company when you graduate.

When I first visited the University of Surrey with my family, I was immediately drawn to it – the campus felt like a community. I could envision myself spending time there, and the view from the cathedral was beautiful.

I am now hoping to pursue a career in occupational therapy, which will involve two years of postgraduate study to prepare me for work within the NHS. It is without a doubt thanks to my placement year that I decided this was the career choice for me.

I came to Surrey to study Psychology having no idea where I was going to take my career. I am now graduating with a clear goal in mind and it is all because of the experiences I’ve had here.

My best memory has to be coming back to my accommodation on my birthday after having a morning exam and finding my room filled with 400 balloons. My flatmates handed me a helmet with pins attached and told me that I had to pop them all to find my birthday presents.

My best moment at Surrey has definitely been completing my placement year. I have developed lots of different professional and personal skills.
