Professional Training placements

All of our undergraduate courses offer Professional Training placements, which involve taking time out of studying to work in industry. You can do a placement here in the UK or you have the option to do your placement abroad.

Professional Training is about providing you with “real world” experience so that you are prepared for life after graduation. The placement usually takes place in the penultimate year of undergraduate study.

Recognised as the Best University Placement Service (Over 500 Placements) at the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards 2019; we will support you with your application and ensure you are gaining the experience you need in a supportive environment.

Placement companies

We partner with over 2,300 national and international businesses of all sizes and across all sectors such as ExxonMobil, Fluor Corporation and GlaxoSmithKline.

Study abroad

You have the opportunity to acquire international experience as part of your studies, by taking advantage of exchange agreements with our partner universities.

Locations of our partner universities include Australia, New Zealand, United States, Korea, and Singapore.

Take a virtual tour

We have the Fluor Pilot Plant facility which gives students access to state-of-the-art equipment that replicates what they will eventually use in industry. This facility is a key part of our undergraduate courses in chemical engineering.

Hear from our students Ishanki De Mel and Zarif Shafiei talking about the plant.
