The seventh round of UKRI’s Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF) programme has been launched. UKRI’s FLF funds fellowships of up to seven years to support talented researchers or innovators who are transitioning to research or innovation leadership. It is a £100 million fund that enables early-career researchers to benefit from outstanding support to develop their career and to work on ambitious and novel challenges.
Overall deadlines
The current round has a deadline for outline proposals of 18 October 2022 and for full proposals of 6 December 2022.
Who should apply
The scheme is open to researchers and innovators from across business, universities, and other organisations. It welcomes applicants from around the world and seeks to attract and retain research and innovation talent in the UK.
Due to high demand for this scheme and a limit to the number of applications each university may submit, the University of Surrey will operate an internal selection process to identify and support the most promising internal and external applicants. The University is keen to encourage high-calibre external researchers to contact a potential host department to discuss this opportunity.
Surrey's deadlines
The University of Surrey’s internal deadline for expressions of interest is 4pm, 5 September 2022. Please see the further details in the selection process document (PDF). Please note, external applicants must have identified a mentor based at the University of Surrey and engaged with the relevant faculty internal selection process to be considered for this opportunity.
Please contact Liz Torrance (e.torrance@surrey.ac.uk) with any queries about this scheme or Surrey’s selection process.
