“I’ve found that the academic staff in the Department of Physics are friendly, enthusiastic, and always encourage you to do your best.”

"I chose to do my MSc at Surrey because it is one of the top universities in the world for studying radiation protection and has a very good international reputation for medical physics.

Prior to coming to the UK, I worked as a demonstrator at the University of Dammam, Saudi Arabia, where I had previously studied for my degree in radiological science. I have long been fascinated by radiation protection, and in particular I am concerned about the disadvantages of using ionizing radiation in the medical field. This is what prompted me to further my knowledge with a Masters course.

As an international student coming to Surrey I’ve received great support – the international team helped me with my Visa and gave me advice on things I wasn’t sure about, like tenancy agreements.

I think the University campus is amazing and the facilities such as the new library building are good. I’ve found that the academic staff in the Department of Physics are friendly, enthusiastic, and always encourage you to do your best. The aspect of the course I like the most is the practical work in the radiation laboratory. I’ve also enjoyed the group project work which has really increased my teamwork skills.

After my Masters course I’d like to remain at Surrey to study for a PhD in order to expand my research skills before I return home to take up a job at a university. My advice to anyone considering coming to Surrey is: be confident and enjoy your journey at the University."
