Health sciences, nursing and midwifery

Nurses, midwives, paramedics and allied health professionals are on the frontline of the NHS, looking after the diverse needs of patients, families and carers, within a variety of settings. If you’re a dynamic, driven and people-orientated person, who’ll treat patients as individuals and take the time to understand who they are, what they need, and how you can best provide care, then this is the perfect field for you.

By joining us at Surrey you’ll be able to study 50 per cent theory and 50 per cent practice on nursing courses ranked:

Our paramedic science courses ranked 2nd in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2023 and 4th in the UK by the Guardian University Guide 2023.

For student satisfaction, we are ranked 1st for mental health nursing and 8th for midwifery in the National Student Survey 2022.

And for graduate prospects, 100 per cent of our undergraduate, 91 per cent of our postgraduate taught and 100 per cent of our postgraduate research health sciences graduates are in employment or further study (Graduate Outcomes survey 2022, HESA).

You’ll be taught by a multidisciplinary team of lecturers, who are all healthcare professionals with experience of working in the NHS. Many are also active researchers, investigating topics like cancer, dementia, ethics and compassionate practice.
