Institute for Sustainability research
With a proud history of pioneering interdisciplinary research and impact in the field of sustainability, the Institute will bring together Surrey's research strengths in diverse but interconnected areas combining technological solutions with understandings of wider social contexts.
Surrey’s Living Lab coordinates numerous projects based on sustainability, urban living and life-long health. Addressing real-world issues, these Living Lab projects use the surrounding area as a test-bed and engage the local community.
Untangle inter-links between quorum sensing, c-di-GMP and EPS production for mixed-culture biofilm growth
This project aims to investigate inter-links of interspecies-level (QS) and intercellular-level (c-di-GMP) regulation and EPS production in anammox-heterotroph biofilms, using real-time gene sequencing analysis to identify commensal species.
