About

Biography

Bridget is a qualified veterinary nurse who has worked within the small animal veterinary field for over 15 years in a range of settings, including first opinion, referral and large charity hospitals. Bridget has a keen interest in animal welfare and has worked and volunteered for a number of animal charities including the PDSA, Blue Cross, CHAT and Guide Dogs for the Blind. Bridget is also a clinical coach, enabling her to mentor and teach student veterinary nurses. She has spent several years specialising in emergency and critical care nursing by working as an emergency night veterinary nurse in both specialist emergency clinics and large hospitals. Bridget later progressed into head nursing and practice management, working as the practice manager for a large charity in London and later head nursing prior to her appointment as the Clinical Skills Laboratory Manager at the University of Surrey in August 2013.

Research interests

Development of clinical skills in veterinarians using simulation and models.

Teaching

Assisting with clinical skills, animal handling and husbandry teaching on BVMSci Veterinary Medicine and Science programme

Departmental duties

Bridget is currently appointed as Clinical Skills Laboratory Manager responsible for managing the clinical skills facility and assisting with teaching clinical skills.
