I am an environmental psychologist specialising in sustainability behaviours (especially transport, energy and water use) and people's relationships with the built environment. My research focuses particularly on unconscious and low-awareness causes of everyday behaviour like habits, social influences, and unconscious stereotypes. I have worked on many large-scale research projects such as ENLITEN (achieving unprecedented in-home energy saving through smart householder feedback systems) and ZED-i (on zero-energy buildings in India) and have acted as an advisor to bodies ranging from the Department for Transport to Transportøkonomisk institutt Norway. I also have a very long-standing interest in traffic safety, especially as concerns vulnerable road users groups.
