About

Biography

Kerstine joined the School of Tourism and Hospitality in 2013 as a Teaching Fellow, joining from the travel industry where she held many senior Human Resources (HR) and customer facing roles in a travel career spanning over 20 years.

As a qualified HR (CIPD - Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) practitioner she brings many practical and realistic case studies to her teaching.

She also worked for many years in customer facing roles. managing resorts and children's activity centres, throughout Europe and has worked as a tour guide in Australia and Europe.

Kerstine holds the Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching and HRM, a BA (Hons) in International Tourism Management and is currently studying for an MA in Higher Education. She spent her university placement year as the first female President of the Leeds Beckett University Students Union and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her undergraduate degree was BA (Hons) International Tourism Management. 

In her role of Director of Learning and Teaching (L&T) she is responsible for ensuring our practises are as good as can be and our L&T is based on internal and external feedback. Much work is done to work with our students and colleagues to maintain and improve our teaching.

She works closely with the employability and careers teams in securing new placements for our students through her networks and also acts as a coach to students to prepare them for interviews, assessment centres and future graduate roles.

She also mentors other academics through their teaching certificate and learning and teaching.

Kerstine is the lead on several large school modules including Leadership, Mentoring and also the Morocco field module, as well as teaching on many more.

Her interests are employability, graduate recruitment, HR and management disciplines as well as all teaching related practices.
